1st SPAEN Conference 2010 in Madrid (Spain)

The 1st SPAEN Annual Conference for Organizations Representing Patients with Sarcomas, GIST or Desmoid Tumours was held from 22-24. November 2010 in Madrid (Spain). The conference aimed to provide Sarcoma, GIST and Desmoid patient advocates with an opportunity to share experience and best practice, as well as to learn about advances and challenges in the treatment of rare cancers. The three day conference focused on research, treatment and advocacy/capacity building. Leading European Sarcoma Experts joined us to present the latest news and answer questions from the patients.

Some Highlights

• A visit at PharmaMar. This company is advancing cancer treatment through the discovery, development and commercialization of innovative marinederived medicines. It was an exciting experience to see the labs and to hear more about anticancer drugs from the sea, and the research process on the frontiers of cancer science.

• Leading European Sarcoma Experts such as Prof. Dr. Javier Martin Broto, PD Dr. Peter Reichardt, Prof. Pjotr Rutkowski and others joined us to give presentations, answer questions and to be available for discussions.
